so I did some research and apparently I have acquired trigger finger. yep, in both of my so called 'ring' fingers ... so called cos it has been nearly 30 years since anyone put a ring on it. but I digress.
trigger finger is when one or more fingers 'locks' at the joint ... sort of stays in position and snaps or clicks when you try to straighten it. with some people, they cannot unlock it ... thankfully that hasn't happened. but to compound matters, on my left hand it is now apparently combined with more severe symptoms, maybe arthritis? just ask me, dr. kim ... as long as my 9 other digits can enter words in the google box, I'll give a diagnosis.
I should probably amble down to le medecin ... I've determined that a shot of cortisone might aid the situation. It is somewhat painful, particularly in the morning when I can barely bend my finger. Conversely....how often is a ring finger put into action? kind of reminds me of that old joke ...
man goes to a doctor and says, "Doc, it really hurts when I do this ... ".
Doc, "well then, don't do that ... !"
ba da bing, ba da boom.
the change in weather has also seemed to exacerbate it.
I've been holding out for receipt of my Carte Vitale (health card) which supposedly will ease the whole Doctor's visit process ... it should be coming any day ... or week ... now.
is this what aging feels like? pfffffffft.

Yep, that's exactly what aging feels like!
The carte vitale doesn't do anything special, it just means that you won't have to fill out a form, find an envelope and buy a stamp.

But la secu is notoriously late on these kinds of things. However, if you send in a form one day late, holy cow do they get right up your ass.

Your local doc probably doesn't even have the carte vitale reader. Living in Paris area, it's a rare day when I come across a doc that has a carte vitale reader. So you might as well go to the doc and relieve yourself of some pain.
Ouch.

Have you thought about opening up your own supervillain laboratory and growing a batch of stem cells to help reverse the aging process? Just a thought.
Having had arthroplasties in both my basal thumb joints in 2005 and 2007 respectively after 9 years of cortisone injections every 6 months, I spent a lot of time with Orthopedic Hand Specialists and research on hand problems.
What you are describing sounds like it could also be "Dupuyren's Contracture" and I hope that you can be seen by a hand specialist for it and not just a GP.

It isn't normal aging. It's most likely genetic.
If it is Trigger Finger, it too is most likely genetic. But the story about your left hand having some additional problems is intriguing. I have had some arthritic spots in my fingers for years, easily since my forties but it hasn't gotten too bad.

Trigger finger makes it sound like you are in the mob and you have done so many hits that your finger is giving you away. I know have seen way too many episode of the Soprano's but having a mafia related injury sounds kind of cool( as long as it is in the realm of fiction).
