that's it.

I've decided to cease reading email after 6:00 p.m. I find that most emails are either spam, bad news or irritating. With the time difference, they seem to arrive around the time I am winding down from my generally productive day or preparing for bed.

This means my good night's sleep is interrupted or terminated, depending on the level of irritation derived from the email.

At least when receiving such news in the morning, one has the day to process and resolve the impact.

Herewith decided and seconded. fin.

Then let me be, what appears to be, the first to congratulate you on your new vow to read email only between some unknown time, hopefully after you first cup of morning coffee, in the a.m. and 6p.m.

Let me also state that your "processing time must be a helluva lot quick than mine because if I read an annoying email at 5:45pm, I wouldn't be able to get my beauty sleep.

Thus, may I proffer the suggestion that you quit reading email after 9a.m. each day. That way you will have all day, as you are working your butt off (oh, sorry, you already worked that off so you must have moved on to other body parts by now--bye bye boobies, bye bye tummy...gawd! be careful...) to disperse the made vibes generated by the email itself.

I only mention it because I can relate deeply to the need to control the rate and speed of reception of bad/crappy/irksome/perturbing news.

I have used an answering machine for two decades to avoid receiving just such news at times when it would disturb my own ability to sleep serenely. It is located so far from me that I cannot hear it ring and I cannot hear the voices speaking.

I won't answer the telephone after 5pm and I won't leave my machine operable if I go on vacation--I do not want to receive bad news upon returning from a good trip.

As you can see, I find your vow quite reasonable and very, very smart!

Sweet dreams... until you finally see this quasi email.
