While futzing around the internet on a break from home maintenance chores, I googled "do the unimaginable". I was seeking some inspiration.
I'm still reading through the multitude of interesting hits, but near the top of the list, Do Something appeared.
This is actually quite an interesting site for those of you who are charitably-minded. You can pick a cause of your interest and locate a plethora of opportunities to participate in volunteer efforts, propose a project, sponsor a cause.
They have a subscription service so you can get local volunteer opportunities, in the theme of your choosing, broadcast to your phone wherever you are.
You can read about topical issues there as well, they present news and other interesting information.
Worth a look/see.

I'm on every liberal sucker list known. Every day I sign a petition or call a Congressperson. For now I give to MoveOn.org and Barack Obama. I'm still not giving to the DNC because they did such an ineffectual job shepherding this primary. If they get their shit together by the time the convention rolls around, I will give them a tiny contribution. I'm a member of MoveOn, the DNC, the ACLU and AARP, that's about it for the number of clubs i can handle. The rest of my time gets gobbled up reading you and writing me. It's a small but focused life.
Today I'm going to write a piece inspire by your light side dark side dichotomy. Randal gave me a little shit for not seeing that your were perhaps in trouble and needed to be lifted up into the light a bit. I say, happiness finds you when it finds you. Some of us are born with a great capacity for joy. But joy is an in the moment experience and by it's fleetingness, is all the more joyous. It is only through contrast that we know what joy is. But then I'm a glass half empty kind of gal.
Fuck the DNC. There, I did something. I try to do my part in bitching to congresscritters and wish I had some more cash to give to charities I dig. I'm a giant softie, so most of that loot ends up going to animal-related stuff.
And utah, I don't remember giving you shit for anything. Did I? I'm a glass is empty kind of guy, so any advice I would give would be the "stay in the muck" variety.

But thanks for the link to "Do Something." Very interesting site. I would like to do something about this hangnail I got typing about Babs Bush the other day, but I don't see it listed on the site.
